Keagan's first hair cut

This past weekend we took the boys for hair cuts. This was Keagan's first cut and to be honest he surpassed my expectations! I was not looking forward to this because if you know Keagan you know that when he doesn't like something the whole world will find out!! Fortunately Daddy went with us and Keagan is very attached to him right now. He sat on Daddy's lap and did not make a peep (which is also very unusual!).

I'm not sure what he was saying or doing to make this face here. But I think he was thinking "what are you doing to me?"

Kellen was getting his hair trimmed too and was peeking around the corner to check on Keagan.

All done!! I'm ready to get out of here!!
Yesterday I took Keagan for his 18 month check-up. He got his last round of shots until he's 5 (thank goodness!) and he weighed 28 lbs and was 34 in! I think he's 80% for weight and 90% for height. He's such a big guy!

This past week

This past week has been yet another busy one and I've neglected blogging new pictures of Kade.

Kade has already changed so much in a week's time. I took him to get weighed this morning and he was 8lb 15oz! Needless to say that we are up to size 1 diapers today after I changed his entire outfit 3 times during the middle of the night because he had leaked through it!
Here are a few pictures I forgot that I took:
Kellen really doesn't ask to hold Kade but he really likes to help out and dote on him. He on several occasions has covered Kade up with his lovey and blanket which to me is a big deal because Kellen is very attached to these objects. He's very concerned when he's crying and comes up with all sorts of solutions to help him (and me) out.

A picture from his first bath at home.

Kade is 2 weeks in this picture and as you can see he's propped up on a pillow and has Kellen's blanket. (Kellen's ideas again).

Aunt Morgan came for a visit this weekend! I'm so glad she was able to come. The boys had a lot of fun with her and I was glad for the help and company!

We all call her the baby whisperer. She has ALWAYS been able to get the babies to sleep!!

Sleeping peacefully!
Kade's first experience with the activity gym.....he was at least very content to lay there for awhile - I'm not sure he really saw anything though!!

Keagan @ 18 monts

Keagan turned 18 months yesterday and is busy as ever! He is saying a lot of new words and can pretty much ask for what he wants. He's such a big boy and he seems even bigger since we brought Kade home. Changing diapers between Kade and Keagan are keeping me quite busy!

Keagan has to be doing whatever his big brother is doing. Kellen does pretty well to play along most of the time. They are becoming good buddies and that I am very thankful for!

He's really enjoying the tractors and farm equipment right now.

Nana and Pa Dudley bought a kiddie pool for the big boys. The other day Karsten filled it up with bath bubbles and the boys played for a long time outside. Did I mention Keagan's obsession with bubbles? If you ask if he wants to go outside all he keeps saying is BUBBLES BUBBLES!
I love you Keagan!! Happy 18 months!!

A little smile

Kade turned 1 week on friday and we had his well-baby weight check/exam. He was past his birth weight at 7 lbs 12 oz. He definitely doesn't miss his meals. He's finally getting his days and nights turned back the right way thankfully and I'm enjoying seeing his eyes open during the day for once!!

The other day he was snoozing propped up in the boppy pillow and I looked over and he kept grinning. I know they are not social smiles but they still melt your heart all the same. I finally captured half of a smile.

We went on a walk last night and 3 different neighbors commented on how much he had already changed. You are a growing boy Kade - and I am trying to capture every moment. I love you!!

Meeting Kade

Some more pictures to get caught up on......

Kade met quite a few people during his first week of life considering we live away from family. Mom and Dad came to help out with the boys while I was in the hospital and Nana and Papa Slater came Sunday through Tuesday. We were very glad for all the help and meals that everyone brought by.

Nana Slater...I am so sad I didn't manage to get a picture of Dad and Kade for some reason.

Sunday afternoon we came home from the hospital and the Oldhams came by. They had just moved to El Dorado but were in town for a test that Nate had to take. So they got a hotel that night and invited Kellen to dinner and swimming with HK. Kellen had a great time and I was very glad for one less child for a couple of hours!!

Wednesday Aunt Shannon came for the day and took newborn shots of Kade. She brought Ruby with her and of course she looked GIANT compared to Kade....it's amazing what 4 months will do!

But my kids will always be bigger in most ways.....their hands and feet!! Ruby is exactly 4 months to the day older than Kade.
But yet they have the same size feet and hands!! My poor children.
Nana is coming back for several more days this week and Aunt Morgan is coming this next weekend! We are looking forward to the company!

Big Brothers

I'm finally getting caught up...time is flying by this week! These pictures are of the boys meeting Kade for the first time.
I will never forget Keagan's reaction. He came walking into the hospital room and his eye balls were doubled in size. He just stared at me like "I forgot what you looked like and why are you here in this room...what have they done to you" kind of look. Kellen immediately wanted to see Kade...but insisted on calling him Ruby. It was so cute. Kellen called Kade Ruby for several days afterwards. I think he was slightly confused.

The boys first glance at Kade.

I'm not sure I want to touch that!

Dad had given the boys orange push-ups right before pictures. We were taking it away from him so we could get some pictures and he was not happy about it.

Kellen finally asked to hold Kade. He did a great job but hasn't really held him since. He likes to talk to him and bounce his seat and give me his opinions of what he thinks Kade needs or wants at that particular moment.

Proud big brother.

Of course the boys have to try out every new baby contraption.

I found Keagan in the chair the other day and he had bent over and turned on the vibration. He loved it and was very proud of himself!
Kade is already having to learn to defend himself as he has been whacked in the head a couple of times. Poor thing. We really do try to defend Kade but sometimes Keagan is just too quick.
Overall things are going well and the boys are adjusting. So far going from 2 -3 was easier than 1 -2.

Kellen's swimming lessons

As per tradition, we signed up Kellen for swimming lessons again this spring/summer. These were the first lessons that I did not have to get into the pool with him. He actually enjoyed these lessons and was excited about them each wednesday night. Unfortnately Keagan did not get signed up - his class was full by the time I had called.

Waiting patiently for his first class to start.

Lined up ready to head into the water. Before class Kellen would ask me if they were going to wear their "seat belts" again.
The last night of class....these pictures are really dark and blurry.

Kellen is swimming with just water wings now but still doesn't care for the water in his face. We went out to eat afterwards to celebrate his accomplishments.
Mommy and Daddy are proud of you Kellen!!

4th of July

4th of July weekend my dear sweet cousin Lesley came to visit. She was such a big help. We made I think 4 or 5 meals to put in the freezer for after the baby was born and she watched the boys for us saturday evening while Karsten and I had one last date night before chaos reigned.

We missed the fireworks saturday evening in Newburgh so we headed to downtown Evansville instead on Sunday night. The boys did great despite not napping well that afternoon. We didn't get home until almost 11pm.

Sunday afternoon we brought out the slip n slide again.

and I bought those Pop-its fireworks for the boys.

Can I have one brother????

Yeah!

Keagan got the hang of it pretty fast and was able to throw them hard enough to pop them.

Sunday evening on the river front.
We took a picnic dinner and the boys played at the playground before we found our seats for the fireworks.

Lesley and Keagan trying to keep busy while waiting.

Our last family picture before Kade was born.

Didn't I tell you??? Lesley is pregnant too!!! Or is she??

Lesley keeping Keagan warm. I think Keagan got attached.

Helpfully unhelpfull

I am way behind on my blogging....so hopefully over the next few days I will get caught up.

I do have a new maid though. Keagan has taken up to a few house hold chores.

He loves feeding the dogs. One kernel at a time. I've pretty much given up trying to keep him from playing with the food. I was tired of fighting him.

Just a little further and I've got one more piece for the doggies!!

I know I know I'm not supposed to be doing this....but I love it!

Keagan is obsessed with the swiffer. He loves to push it around everywhere and has an absolute fit when I'm cleaning. He doesn't want to wait until I'm done.

Oh the adventures of a 17 month old!
