If you can't open it....saw it

When Kellen goes into the bathroom and locks the door it makes Keagan really upset.  Most of the time Kellen is going to the bathroom and needs some privacy.  However, I cannot get that concept across to Keagan at this time.

So Keagan does what he does best.  He uses his tools.  I missed most of the action shot but first he tried his screwdriver to unlock the door from the outside.  Next it was a wrench.  Then he decided to take a more rash avenue.....saw it down!
He worked really hard at sawing the door handles, then the trim.....you get the idea.

This boy is not complete without some sort of power tool in his hand.  He is definitely all boy.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter!!!

The boys woke up early Easter morning and had no idea what was happening.  We had been reading their Bible in correlation with what Jesus was going through the week leading up to Easter or Resurrection.....so we didn't even talk about "the Easter Bunny!"

Keagan was so happy that there was LOTS of candy

Kade joined in the fun too.  (But mommy gets to eat his candy!)

Such good buddies....notice two out of the three cooperating....

You-know-what hit the fan as soon as I told Keagan we had to get dressed and that there would be no more candy this morning.

Sugar rush??
OH well, so much for a good picture.

It rained all day which made for a good day of napping and getting things done around the house.  Karsten and I spent the afternoon packing up a lot of things in the garage and getting ready for a garage sale.

After the kids woke up from naps they spent a couple of hours playing in the rain.  They had so much fun! There was no lightning this time around so I let them play until they were water-logged.

Keagan and Kellen started collecting buckets of rain water to water the flowers....hmmmm

I'll say this....the flowers shouldn't need any more water until after we move!!

Helmet Head

Yes, this is what a little boy's head should look like after riding his bike for a couple miles.

Kellen has made some great progress in his biking skills.  I seriously think we could try his bike without training wheels by summer's end.  He is getting really fast and now doesn't stop at up or down hill ramps.

Oh, I can't forget Keagan....he was pouting because he couldn't get his helmet off.  He REFUSES to pedal.  He just wants to be pushed on his tricycle.  So now the tricycle doesn't work...unless he pedals.

I can't wait to see what the big boys will do and learn this spring and summer.  We have started trying to teach Keagan how to drive the gator.  I think it won't be long before he's proficient at it too!!

Kade at 9 months

Oh Kade....what shall I say about you this month!?!
You are a very vocal and somewhat mobile baby.  You growl constantly and sometimes it is just too loud, but I think it's pretty cute so I let it go.  You still are NOT crawling but are able to get where you want to go.  Your version is rolling....over and over again.

"Yes, I am 9 months old...you want to make something of it??"
He kept making this face when I would hold up the camera.  I guess it is his version of "cheese."

You are a very vocal and somewhat mobile baby.  You growl constantly and sometimes it is just too loud, but I think it's pretty cute so I let it go.  You still are NOT crawling but are able to get where you want to go.  Your version is rolling....over and over again. You will even roll all over the hard tile floors.

You adore your big brothers.  You laugh at them all the time but you definitely have a preference for your mama.  You have two bottom teeth and just tonight I noticed your two front teeth are coming down! No wonder you've been so restless at night!

You are transitioning to some baby food with textures and you love cheerios.  I haven't really given you any other table food yet.  You are attempting the sippy cup.  Sometimes you like it and other times you just throw it down.

I love you sweet boy.  You are so cuddly and I can't wait to see what this next month will bring.

Kellen's swimming lessons

For the past 7 weeks, every monday night, we have taken Kellen to swim lessons at the YMCA.  We have done this every year during late winter and early spring.
4 years old

I have to apologize for the quality of these pictures....they were taken through the glass.

they played ring-around-the-rosie

He has come a long way over the past couple of years.  He still  is very cautious but he's making strides.  He will now hold his breath and put his face under the water.  I hope to work with him this summer and hopefully he'll learn how to swim on his own soon!
We have also gone out afterward for ice cream and this year was no exception.  We went to Culvers and enjoyed some good burgers and of course concretes!

Easter eggs and Grandparents

This past weekend we got a double-dose of Grandparents and Easter egg hunting.  Karsten's parents came up Thursday and Friday and my parents came Saturday and Sunday.  I celebrated my 30th birthday with lots of family and the kids got lots of practice hunting for eggs.

Nana and Papa Slater hid eggs several times over for the boys to hunt inside and when Nana and Pa Dudley came, they hid the eggs outside.  I think the boys will be experts come Easter.

(Ignore all the rags....I was washing windows)

In the boys' baskets they received magnifying glasses.....so they could see bugs really close up.  They LOVE them.

Thanks to the Grandparents for everything you did this weekend!! We really appreciate you and love you!

Tunnels and waterslides

Lately the boys have been reinacting our adventures at the indoor water park.  They basically use the tunnel and my bed.  I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

See? Just like the waterslides at the park!

And I wonder why I have had to replace and sew my buttons back on my duvet!
